Today's Nintendo Direct presentation was okay. There wasn't much talked about that we didn't already know, but there was one nice surprise announcement, and it is something that I am very excited about. Some of the included news was the fan selected box art for the NA release of Xenoblade Chronicles, some nice Mario Tennis revelations, and a few other release dates. There are a few tidbits from the Japanese presentation that were left out of the presentation shown here, and those are the announcement of GameGear titles coming to the eShop, and a 3DS game that is being worked on by Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai. I'm guessing we will hear more about that around E3.
I had just grabbed my 3DS to play some more Tales of the Abyss, and I saw my little blue SpotPass light. It was a notification of a new note waiting for me in Swapnote. After downloading my four new notes (I didn't check it at all on Monday), I noticed one of them looked a little different. When I opened it, it had a gold border instead of the normal blue border. I thought it would be a note from Nikki, but it turned out to be so much more important! It was a message from Reggie Fils-Aime! As you can see from the little bubble in the image, it also included a little audio clip from the man himself. The Swapnote was to inform everyone of the live Nintendo Direct presentation tomorrow morning at 9 AM EST, where we will be getting some news on the Wii and 3DS. And as a little added bonus, we got a new stationary to use.
One of my top 10 games on the Dreamcast, as well as one of the biggest WTF games I have ever played, is reportedly making its way to the Nintendo 3DS. According to Nikkei, Nintendo is reviving titles from the catalogs of other publishers, including Seaman. In fact, the original creator of the game stated that could be seeing Seaman on the 3DS. This news makes me very excited, but we don't know any details yet. Make sure you stay tuned for more on this one. As you may have noticed, we had some technical issues right before Christmas. Our server went down, and we ended up losing the last few years worth of news posts and reviews. Well, have been hard at work behind the scenes to get the site slightly redesigned and running again. Right now, almost everything is working properly, and we are officially re-launching DigitalSomething.com! Rockstar Games and Valve have announced that as of today Rockstar Games' entire PC catalog will be available via Valve's online distribution service, Steam. This is great news for gamers as Steam has developed into an amazing delivery platform and is now even persuing the more social side of gaming. To help celebrate the launch Rockstar Games is offering 10% off any of the titles from now until Jan. 11th. With the problems that many people have been experiencing recently with Xbox Live (myself included), Microsoft told us that they would compensate it users. Tonight, they revealed how they plan on doing so: with a free XBLA title. The official Major League Baseball 2K8 site is now live, and while the site is a bit lacking in details it does announce the platforms the game is being developed for. The 4th installment of everyones favorite 2D arcade shooter, Metal Slug is available via Xbox Live Arcade this morning. Due to the recent Live problems some are reporting that they have been unable to even access the Marketplace today. Looks like there are still a few lingering issues that MS needs to work out. The folks over at MyGamerCard.net are working on their next project, which will be similar to their work with Gamertags. MyZuneCard is the title of the project and it will allow people to share their recent plays via the Zune software much like the recently played games on the Xbox 360. |
